WHALE WATCH FROM THIS ADORABLE WATERFRONT VACATION RENTAL ON SAN JUAN ISLAND

This thoughtfully appointed San Juan Island waterfront home offers a spectacular location on the southwest side of the island. It's a setting where guests frequently observe the antics of passing Orca Whales from the waterside deck and hot tub. This vacation home is also located next to American Camp National Park where you can hike to Mt. Flinlayson and along the dramatic beaches. It's no wonder that guests return year after year to enjoy this scenery and special touches thoughtfullly provided by the owners - a word of caution - book early, as this popular vacation home rarely offers an open week!

The floor plan is open and comfortable, with a living room, dining area, and kitchen that includes a breakfast bar on the main level. You'll also find a bedroom and half bath on this level. Upstairs, the master bedroom is located in an open loft and offers a king bed and full bath.

    We will be back, This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, there were things in the house that we have never seen provided for the guest, I got to meet Skip when he came over to fix a lil problem with the hot water tank, very nice guy, their home is a dream home, The property manger, Lisa, an the owners are some of the nicest folks we have meet in a long time. I have already recommended the home to several folks who thimk they would like to look into renting Writer's Retreat some time in the future.   • This little house near Eagle Cove and American Camp on San Juan Island is a treasure. From the house you can see the orcas, otters, deer, red and black foxes, eagles etc. You can walk to the best hiking on the island. The house is fully stocked

    The little treats left for us (wine, smoked salmon, chocolates, etc.) were a really nice touch, but the daily orca show in Eagle Cove is what made this place truly spectacular.

    We love Writer's Retreat and have been staying there every year for ten years. The owners give everything a very special touch and have kept the property in very good condition - except they need a new bed. The mattress is worn out and the bed is very
    squeaky. We didn't sleep well and had stiff necks most mornings.

    The only problem was that our keys weren't ready at the place they were supposed to be when we came to pick them up. Also, the key drop off location was very hard to find as there was no sign up at the new vacation rental office. The people at the main Windermere location were not very helpful in directing me to the new location. I ended up having to ask many merchants for help before finding the location and then almost missed the ferry because of the confusion.

    We LOVE staying at Writers Retreat! It is so comfortable and the touches added (gourmet snacks and drinks) have us feeling that we're staying with friends. I wouldn't recommend this rental because I'm concerned we'd never reserve it in time. We already book at the first of the year.
